AUSTIN, Texas — The Texas Longhorns will look to get back on track Saturday, October 17, when they host the Florida Gators in a Southeastern Conference matchup at Darrell K Royal-Texas Memorial Stadium.

Texas enters the matchup at 4–1 overall and 1–1 in SEC play after suffering a heartbreaking 27–24 loss to Oklahoma in the Red River Rivalry. Florida, meanwhile, comes into Austin at 4–2 overall and 2–2 in conference play following a 38–19 defeat against South Carolina.

With both teams coming off disappointing performances, Saturday's contest presents an important opportunity to regain momentum as the SEC schedule continues.

Texas Looks to Respond

The Longhorns will have plenty to correct following their loss to Oklahoma. Despite building a 17–7 halftime advantage, Texas struggled to maintain control in the second half as turnovers and special-teams mistakes helped the Sooners complete their comeback.

Quarterback Arch Manning finished with 260 passing yards and three touchdown passes, but two interceptions proved costly in the defeat. Wide receiver Cam Coleman also delivered a strong performance, recording five receptions for 110 yards and a touchdown.

Texas will need a more consistent offensive performance against Florida, particularly when protecting the football and converting scoring opportunities.

The Longhorns' defense also showed promise against Oklahoma, limiting the Sooners to 238 total yards. Maintaining that level of defensive production could be important against a Florida team looking to find its offensive rhythm.

Florida Hopes to Rebound

Florida heads to Austin searching for answers after consecutive losses to Missouri and South Carolina.

Against South Carolina, quarterback Aaron Philo threw for 227 yards and a touchdown but committed two turnovers. Running back Jadan Baugh added a rushing touchdown, although Florida struggled to establish a consistent ground attack.

The Gators will need improved execution on both sides of the football to challenge Texas on the road.

Florida also has a recent advantage in this matchup. The Gators defeated Texas 29–21 in Gainesville during the 2025 season, giving the Longhorns additional motivation heading into Saturday's contest.

A Crucial SEC Opportunity

For Texas, this game offers a chance to put the Oklahoma loss behind it and protect its home field. For Florida, a victory over the Longhorns would provide a significant boost after back-to-back defeats.

The matchup will also test how both teams respond to adversity as the conference schedule progresses. Texas will look to capitalize on its home-field advantage, while Florida hopes to repeat last season's result against the Longhorns.
