CONVERSE, Texas — The Hutto Hippos put together one of the biggest offensive performances of the young 2026 season Friday night, defeating the Judson Rockets 67-41 at Judson High School.

Hutto came into the matchup looking for its first win after a narrow 53-50 loss to Harker Heights in its season opener. Judson was playing its first game of the season, setting the stage for an offensive battle between two Central Texas programs.

The Hippos wasted little time getting on the scoreboard. Senior athlete Jaiden Fields recovered a fumble and returned it for a touchdown on the opening play, giving Hutto an immediate 7-0 advantage. Fields continued to make an impact throughout the night, adding two receiving touchdowns.

Hutto carried a 22-14 lead after the first quarter and extended its advantage to 32-21 at halftime. The Hippos then erupted for 28 points in the third quarter, putting the game out of reach before adding another touchdown in the fourth.

Quarterback Ethan Carlson helped lead the Hutto offense, throwing for 214 yards and two touchdowns. Sophomore quarterback Micah Antoun also contributed, completing 16 of 20 passes for 201 yards and three touchdowns, according to the Taylor Press.

Hutto's rushing attack was also productive. Brayden Childs rushed for 111 yards and a touchdown on just seven carries while adding 55 receiving yards.

Judson showed plenty of fight despite falling behind. The Rockets produced 301 rushing yards, while quarterback Dominique Davis Jr. threw for 167 yards and three touchdowns. Kayden Graham added 169 total yards and three touchdowns in an impressive individual performance.

The 67-point performance gave Hutto its first victory under first-year head coach Casey Walraven and moved the Hippos to 1-1 on the season.

For Judson, the loss dropped the Rockets to 0-1, but the offensive production provided some positives to build on. The Rockets would later earn their first victory of the season with a 51-41 win over Clemens in their District 29-6A opener on September 18.

Hutto ultimately continued its strong start, defeating Copperas Cove 64-21 and Temple 53-14 in its next two games to enter district play at 3-1.

Final: Hutto 67, Judson 41.
